So pretty much, this episode is Matsu chan teaching Ana her native tounge, and its going horribly. It seems the only english Ana chan knows is "yes" which is why Matsu is stuck there with that horribly cute face. Matsu is going to Ana's place to study, but Ana chan doesnt want the other hooligans to show up. Which means Matsu has to somehow keeep them out (I have the distinct feeling that wont work, for some reason...).

Almost every time we see Nobue she's drinking or smoking. In the house, no less.

Micchan is holding Matsu against her will or whatever, so Nobue has to come to her rescue and reap the rewards just because its the right thing to do.

Fool'd.

Please, please leave then.

So Matsu is trying to leave to go to Ana chan's, but of course no one's letting her just leave.

Matsu's plan to distract the hooligans from stalking her. Unsurprizingly enough, it doesnt work. She then asks how you would get someone to look the other way and Nobue being the lolicon concerned citizen she is, comes up with a "say nyah at the end of sentences" bit.

So everyone ends up at Ana chan's house anyway, and her version of Tadakichi san runs down Micchan, thankfully.

Micchan automatically gets off on the wrong foot with Ana chan, again.




So while Ana's hissyfitting about her name, Nobue spouts some wisdom - all while staring at Ana chan with a really creepy look on her face.




This is what Nobue was hoping for.

So Micchan walks in on Nobue and Ana chan's "moment" and gets all jealous, so decides that her and Ana chan should have a flexibility contest. This moment really reinforced to me just how young these girls are.

Micchan doesnt share the flexibility gene.

I first came across Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu when I watched a very randomized inside joke video on Youtube. They had parts Hare Hare Yukai many times and I wondered, “Thats catchy, wonder what its from.” That was about a year ago. Then early January I went to Japan Town and found a CD with that same girl all over it! So I just had to get it and that was when I was introduced to Haruhi.

Well I’ve gotta say, from the beginning I was hooked. It had well developed characters, a new storyline and of course [what every successful anime needs], a catchy OP and ED. But if anyone asked what it was or what it was about there was absolutely NO way for me to explain. Aliens, espers, time travelers? Out of order episodes?

So the first episode gives away the undeniable truth that this series isn’t normal. We’re stuck face to face with a ‘class made’ video. I loved the idea of this [since it was anime after all]. They even made their own theme song that Mikuru sung [and rather poorly may I add]. At the end of watching a truly low budget film, and hearing endless narration from Kyon, you see the main character Haruhi and the group of the SOS Brigade. Heh, lets make another one next year, huh gang?

Overall, there aren’t many out of ‘otaku’ who don’t enjoy Haruhi. Even if its just for the ending dance. Huh, go figure.

After a hellish couple of days at work, I’m going to do something I don’t normally do, I’m going to give a quick impression of the Ichigo Mashimaro Encore OAV RAW. Usually I don’t review RAWs because my Japanese language skills aren’t good enough for a in-depth review but I’m so tired that I don’t have the energy for a full episode review of something else. So, I’ll just list the skits, and show a few screen caps, then I’ll join Ayu and dream of taiyaki with her.

The first skit involves Chika getting some prank phone calls, whenever she answers the phone no one says anything to her, then Miu gets pranked too.

The next skit is about Miu dying after trying to pull off a standing back flip, Miu ends up being judged by Nobue and sent to hell.

After managing to get past the devil Chika, Miu takes a elevator to heaven where she meets the angel Ana, Miu manages to trick Ana into giving her a set of boobs and wings. Miu then uses her wings in a escape attempt, only to be foiled by Nobue.

Once Miu finally wakes up from her fall, she’s back in the room with the other girls, and she discovers to her disappointment that everything is back to normal. Then the girls end up at a school field trip where Chika discovered that she forgot some of her school supplies, and Miu calls Nobue, forcing Nobue to make a trip to bring the supplies.

Once Nobue gets to the location, Miu proceeds to piss off Nobue with her usual antics, and she suffers Nobue wrath. Then the girls just kind of wander around the place looking cute, and doing cute things. Then the girls finally settle down to do their sketching and painting assignments, while Ana, Matsuri, and Chika try to be serious, Miu just sketches silly and ecchi drawings.

Well, here’s my quick impression of the RAW. I feel that the animation style for this OAV is a little different from the previous iterations, while the girls are still drawn very cute I feel that the four younger girls are drawn looking younger than before. I also feel that Miu’s face looks a little chunkier that usual. The girls all still have their usual personality traits; Miu is still Miu, dense and silly; Ana is extremely cute; Matsuri is cute and vulnerable; Chika is still kind of the foil to Miu’s silliness; and Nobue still gets her moe enjoyment from the girls,and she still favors Matsuri. Oh, I also found the devil Chika and angel Ana to be over the top in cuteness. Overall, I found this OAV to be quite enjoyable and relaxing, so I hope that this OAV will either be released on DVD or get a official online release.
